Indusgeeks turns One!
Monday, May 12th, 2008Happy Birthday to us! Indusgeeks turned 1 on April 4, 2008 ( or March 27, 2008 if you wanna go by the registration date) . We had a nice party at Alibaug with current and former geeks in attendance. I have been meaning to blog about it since…. cut to May and I finally get the time.
I guess it is good for the company when the CEO doesn’t have the time to post in two months
( or it could be a very lazy CEO ). So let’s take a quick stock of targets set and achieved for the first year of Indusgeeks.
1) To create market awareness about Virtual Worlds and Second Life – satisfactory.
2) To make Indusgeeks the agency of choice for any and all Virtual Worlds/Second Life related work – significant progress.
3) To break-even operationally on cost – achieved.
4) To create a strong order book – significant progress.
5) 15% of all revenues generated come from retail operations in Second Life/other Virtual Worlds – not achieved.
Largely as a company we have achieved most of the targets we set off to achieve in the first year. The one target that we did not achieve was that of earning significant retail revenues from Virtual Worlds. We have a good brand presence in Second Life, with SLJobfinder.com and Bollywood. However, as the clients kept pouring in and deadlines kept mounting up we realised that we needed a dedicated team to address this emerging market in SL. Like any other retail market it’s fast and keeping even slightly out of touch with the content and the community cycles guarantees death of the brand. Knowing this we decided not to part-time it but rather create a dedicated team to concentrate on these markets.
This year we want to consolidate our position and move to newer areas of interest in VW Technologies like Virtual Worlds built in flash, Multiverse and other platforms ( more on that soon on our new website). We are looking to add more people to our team and expect to be 14 by the end of the 2nd Quarter of 2008. We have also set up many new partnerships with advertising as well as media companies which will enable us to grow with and learn from the best in the business ( announcements on this soon).
I expect to be able to blog more on the work we have been doing in the coming months.. also starting this week we will have members of the team start posting as well.
